We’ll continue the “Let’s than a minute with … ” series with defensive end Mackendy Cheridor.

Coach Trent Miles recently said that Cheridor was in the best shape he’s ever seen him in. A redshirt junior, Cheridor had 6 1/2 tackles for loss last season, including three sacks, bringing his career totals to 15 and five.

Q: You always look like a guy that can put on 20 more pounds and still look lean. So, what do you weigh now?

A: 275.

Q: What’s your goal?

A: 280.

Q: Still have the quickness?

A: Yes sir.

Q: How strong are you? Everybody looks stronger.

A: I’m way stronger than I was last year. I move way better than last year. I’m in way better shape than last year. I think I’m pretty strong.

Q: How’s your knee?

A: It’s great.

Q: What are some of the lessons you are trying to teach the young guys in the offseason program?

A: When fatigue hits, how will you react? Don’t let it make you a coward. Just keep on fighting and play hard, go hard all the time. Get in the playbook, learn the system and learn the plays so you can fit into the defense.

Q: Which of the new faces do you think will be a player to watch for the fans this season?

A: There are multiple guys that can do a lot of great things this year. I won’t just pick one because every year there’s someone new that shocks us and gets into the depth chart and plays. I won’t be surprised if there’s more than one.

Q: Name a few.

A: Terry (Thomas), I think Terry will be a great dude. I think he has a big chance at playing this year. And, Clifford (Amazan) can fit right into the scheme. I think he has good size to play nose. He’s strong. He just has to get into better shape. I think he will be a great player too.
