For the first time in its history, Georgia State will host a team from a power conference in football.

The Panthers will announce on Thursday that they have finalized a home-and-home contract with Vanderbilt of the SEC.

Georgia State will host the Commodores on Sept. 28, 2024 and play in Nashville on Sept. 20, 2025.

The games will be revenue neutral because the teams will exchange $200,000. However, Georgia State should benefit from ticket sales, parking and concessions from its home game.

The Panthers have played, and are scheduled to play, a number of teams from the “Power Five.” However, they have yet to defeat any of them in seven meetings with losses at Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, West Virginia, Oregon and Washington.

Vanderbilt, coached by Derek Mason, went 4-8 last season. Georgia State went 6-7 last season and played in its first bowl game, the Cure Bowl in Orlando.
