R.J. Hunter’s one shining moment made it to “One Shining Moment” and he was thrilled.
Hunter’s 30-foot 3-pointer with less than three seconds left that beat Baylor in the second round of the NCAA tournament was among the highlights included in the montage of moments that accompanied the video “One Shining Moment” Monday night after Duke beat Wisconsin in the championship game of the NCAA tournament.
“It was unreal,” Hunter said. “It was surreal. Watching the game is regular, but then ‘One Shining Moment’ came on. It was like a dream.”
Hunter said several times after hitting the shot that he hoped it would be included in the video, calling it a dream since he began playing.
Hunter was in Indianapolis for the Final Four with his dad and Georgia State’s coach, Ron, and mom, Amy. R.J. said he almost forgot to watch “One Shining Moment,” which is always played almost as soon as the championship game ends, to see if he had made it. As hewas walking out of the door he remembered and ran back in to watch. His clip, as well as that of Ron falling off his chair, appears at the 43rd second.
“It was cool because that’s love for Georgia State,” he said. “I’m at the Final Four and people know who Georgia State is. They’ve seen that moment plenty of times.”
Though he is moving, Hunter said he will continue to take online classes and will return to campus to take his final exams.
