Running back Marcus Caffey won’t play in Georgia State’s game at South Alabama on Saturday. Coach Trent Miles suspended him for a violation of team rules related to academics.
Caffey showed promise two weeks when he set school records for carries (27) and rushing touchdowns (3) in a loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. It was Caffey’s first game at running back after playing the previous four at cornerback.
Because of an injury, he barely played in last week’s loss to Arkansas State.
The running backs will be without Caffey and Duvall Smith (injury) on Saturday. Kyler Neal (knee) and Jonathan Jean-Bart (knee) are out for the season.
The Panthers are rushing for 118.3 yards per game.
