Wil Lutz was named the Sun Belt special teams player of the week for his performance in Georgia State’s 34-31 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette last week.
Lutz kicked a 48-yard field, averaged 38 yards on three punts in his first start at that position this season, and he rushed one time for 26 yards on a fake punt in the first quarter that eventually led to the team’s first touchdown. He also averaged 64.2 yards on five kickoffs.
The field goal made Lutz the school’s career leader in that category with 16.
The Panthers (1-4,0-2) will host Arkansas State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
